Congressman Mike Quigley Endorses Democrat Eileen O’Neill Burke for Cook County State’s Attorney
Chicago, IL – Today, Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-05) announced his endorsement of Justice Eileen O’Neill Burke for Cook County State’s Attorney.
“As a former defense attorney, Cook County Commissioner, and now Member of Congress, I enthusiastically endorse Justice Eileen O’Neill Burke for State’s Attorney,” said Congressman Mike Quigley (D-IL05). “In every community I visit throughout Chicago and Cook County, people tell me they’re concerned about crime and eager for a change in direction. We are at a critical juncture, and Eileen O’Neill Burke has the unmatched experience and good judgment to get us back on track toward safety and justice for all.”
“I’m so proud to have the support of Congressman Mike Quigley who has spent decades as a fighter for safer communities, working families, and progressive values,” said Justice Eileen O’Neill Burke, a former prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and judge. “Congressman Quigley is also no stranger to challenging the status quo, which is exactly what we need right now, because the criminal justice system isn’t working for anyone. We need to tackle gun violence while getting after the root causes of crime, like poverty and historic disinvestment. I’m eager to put my thirty years of legal experience to work so every community can thrive, and I’m honored to be joined by leaders like Congressman Quigley in that important work.”
O’Neill Burke’s campaign released the first poll of the race showing Justice O’Neill Burke with a double-digit lead while her opponent’s record as a top corporate lobbyist who actively campaigned against fair wages for workers and their right to form a union has drawn serious concern. The poll memo is available here.
