Ald. Pat Dowell, Rep. Margaret Croke, Former Ald. Rod Sawyer Endorse Eileen O’Neill Burke for Cook County State’s Attorney
Chicago, IL – Today, 3rd Ward Alderwoman and Democratic Committeeperson Pat Dowell, State Rep. Margaret Croke (12th District), and Former 6th Ward Alderman Rod Sawyer endorsed Justice Eileen O’Neill Burke for Cook County State’s Attorney.
Earlier this week, Justice O’Neill Burke announced support from Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-5), 43rd Ward Democratic Committeeperson Lucy Moog, State Rep. Marty Moylan (55th District), and Pipefitters Local 597, U.A.
“With her thirty years of critical experience as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and judge, I’m proud to endorse Eileen O’Neill Burke for Cook County State’s Attorney,” said 3rd Ward Alderwoman and Democratic Committeeperson Pat Dowell, who also serves as Chair of the Chicago City Council Committee on Finance. “Eileen has never been afraid to take on the status quo to do what’s right, and I’m confident she will work with me and others in my community to address the root causes of crime and be the change we urgently need.”
“I’m honored to endorse Eileen O’Neill Burke for Cook County State’s Attorney. The number one concern I hear from constituents is they don’t feel safe anymore, and it’s clear that our current approach to public safety and criminal justice is not working,” said State Rep. Margaret Croke. “With her decades of experience as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney and judge, Eileen has the experience we need to restore safety and justice across Cook County.”
“I’m humbled to have the support of these outstanding community leaders,” said Justice Eileen O’Neill Burke, a former prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and judge. “Momentum for our vision of public safety and justice is building, and I’m eager to put my thirty years of legal experience to work so every community can thrive.”
O’Neill Burke’s campaign released the first poll of the race showing Justice O’Neill Burke with a double-digit lead while her opponent’s record as a top corporate lobbyist who actively campaigned against fair wages for workers and their right to form a union has drawn serious concern. The poll memo is available here.
